P.L. 2010 2011 Aston Villa Fulham on MiamiGunners Match Of The Week

week 26
5th february 2011:
aston villa v. fulham

Aston Villa will be looking to bounce back from their midweek defeat as they welcome in-form Fulham in the Premier League on Saturday. The Midlanders had won their last two before league leaders Manchester United inflicted a 3-1 reverse at Old Trafford on Tuesday. Gerard Houllier's side at least return to home comforts as they bid to register 500 Premier League goals at Villa Park.
Fulham's record of three wins at Villa in 19 attempts makes for poor reading, but Mark Hughes will be confident of improving that statistic in light of their recent resurgence. The Cottagers have amassed 10 points from their last six games, including Wednesday's 1-0 victory over Newcastle United. The victory has allowed Hughes to contemplate notions of a top-half finish and a positive result in the Midlands will go a long way to satisfying the Welshman's hopes.

P.L. 2010 2011 Manchester City West Bromwich on MiamiGunners Match Of The Week

week 26 5th february 2011:

On Wednesday, City were held to a 2-2 draw at Birmingham meaning that they have won just one of their last four Premier League games and taking just five points from a possible 12. That will concern Roberto Mancini, whose side led twice before conceding a penalty from which Birmingham’s Craig Gardner earned his team a point. Yaya Toure was absent at St Andrew’s with flu and he will undergo a test ahead of the visit of Albion. They are still without Mario Balotelli, who last played in December when he scored a hat-trick against Aston Villa in December...
Albion, meanwhile, stole a valuable point on Tuesday thanks to a 2-2 draw with fellow relegation rivals Wigan. Carlos Vela, the Mexican forward signed from Arsenal on loan, made his debut and could continue as Albion look for their first win at City since February 2003.

Campionato 2010 2011 Milan Ac Lazio on MiamiGunners Match Of The Week

serie a 2010/11
week 23
1st february 2011:
ac milan v. lazio

Milan lie first in the Serie A standings, and four points clear of nearest rivals Napoli but face a Lazio team tonight with, if not title ambitions, then a strong desire to secure Champions League football for next season.
Allegri said: “Lazio are doing pretty well, have great players and a strong team spirit. We’re at a crucial stage of the season, we can’t afford to lose points now. “Our objective is getting at least 80 points, which in my opinion should be enough to win the championship. So we need 11 more wins.
“We have to take one game at a time. Lazio are very strong technically thanks to players like Hernanes, Mauri, Ledesma, Matuzalem, Brocchi and at the back have a solid defence. “An adjective for the match? It’s a difficult question. It will be a match in which we’ll need to play with great intensity. It will be important to approach the game with the right attitude. They tend to lower the pace and so we’ll have to try to maintain a high intensity.”
Allegri could hand a debut to veteran defender Nicola Legrottaglie who joined yesterday on deadline day from Juventus to cover for the injured Alessandro Nesta.
Allegri added: “We’re at the most difficult and most important stage of the season and we have a lot of injured players.
