The Gotham FC defeated the Rise FC Academy 4-1 at Swangard Stadium in Burnaby in the group stage of the Concacaf Women's Champions Cup. Gotham FC's Josie Hasbo scored the first goal of the match in the ninth minute, followed by Katie Stengel in the 12th. "Anaïs Oularbi streaked behind the defence and fired off a shot that smashed against the near post, but rebounded perfectly for Bout to sweep in for 2-1," noted a Rise FC press release Tuesday (Sept. 16). At the start of the second half, Gotham FC's Esther González scored. The last goal was scored in the 90 +3 minute by Bruninha. Gotham FC held possession 81 per cent of the match and took 18 shots, five of which were on goal, while the Rise FC Academy took six shots, one of which was on goal.
