City dominated possession but lacked incisiveness around goal at AAMI Park until Pollicina entered the game at half-time and won a penalty for Emina Ekic to score in the 60th minute. The victory was soured by an ankle injury to Ekic 10 minutes later. City dominated possession in the first half but created few chances bar in the 15th minute when Leticia McKenna forced a good save from Sarah Langman at her near post. Perth had the best chance of the first half in the 40th minute. City centre-back Naomi Chinnama came to Melissa Barbieri’s rescue, making a huge goal-saving block on Cyera Hintzen after the Glory forward had danced around the veteran goalkeeper. City found a new sense of urgency when Pollicina entered the game at half-time and should have taken the lead in the 48th minute.

Daniela Galic combined with Pollicina and the City playmaker found McKenna, who smashed her shot wide. Two minutes later, Pollicina danced through the Glory defence and cut back for Galic, who found Kaitlyn Torpey. The full-back’s shot took a deflection and was cleared off the line by Ella Mastrantonio. In the 56th minute, Langman almost punched a Torpey shot into her own net, but was spared by the woodwork. City got their chance from the penalty spot when Pollicina attempted to break through Perth’s defensive lines and veteran defender Kim Carroll bundled the attacker into teammate Isabella Wallhead.
