Le numéro 10 danois Christian Eriksen a marqué un but, pour son retour lors du match amical, disputé mardi à Copenhague contre la Serbie (3-0) dans le stade où il avait été victime d'un arrêt cardiaque, en juin durant l'Euro. Avant le coup d'envoi, le capitaine de la sélection avait été ovationné par le public, des banderoles "Bienvenue à la maison Christian" en anglais et en danois, avaient été déployées par les fans, dès l'entrée des joueurs sur la pelouse de Parken, le stade national dans la capitale danoise.

Homme du match, le numéro 10 a quitté le terrain à la 80e minute, sous les applaudissements d'un public debout, vingt minutes après avoir marqué le troisième but de la rencontre, remportée 3-0 par les Danois. Le match s'est joué à guichets fermés, du jamais vu pour une rencontre amicale depuis des années. Visiblement touché Eriksen, qui évolue actuellement à Brentford en Premier League, est longuement resté sur le terrain avec l'équipe pour saluer le public.

Il avait confié son émotion à la veille de refouler la pelouse d'un stade désormais tout particulier. "Ca a toujours été spécial de jouer à Parken mais demain cela sera sans doute un peu plus spécial", avait expliqué Eriksen à la télévision publique DR. "C'est une bonne fin de chapitre mais aussi le début d'un nouveau". Pour les supporters, le match s'annonçait d'emblée extraordinaire. "Ca va être un moment magique pour tous les fans présents aujourd'hui pour le voir rentrer dans Parken et pour lui de recevoir tous ces applaudissements", assurait à l'AFP Magnus Hall avant le coup d'envoi. Le 12 juin 2021, le meneur de jeu de 30 ans s'était effondré sur la pelouse du stade, victime d'un arrêt cardiaque, restant inanimé de longues minutes avant de revenir à lui après un sauvetage d'urgence.

The biggest cheer during Denmark's 3-0 win over Serbia in an emotionally powered international friendly came in the 58th minute, when Eriksen cut inside onto his right foot and powered home a shot from the edge of the area. He ran toward the crowd with a clenched fist and slid on his knees in unbridled joy. It was Eriksen’s first appearance at Parken since his near-fatal collapse there during a match against Finland at the European Championship, and he was given a rapturous welcome by fans as he led Denmark team out for the friendly as captain.

He was afforded a standing ovation, too, when he was substituted in the 80th minute and naturally  was named as man of the match a few minutes later to more cheers from the crowd. Eriksen is enjoying a remarkable international comeback, not long after returning to club soccer with Brentford in the Premier League after being fitted with an implantable cardioverter defibrillator. He also scored two minutes after coming on as a halftime substitute against the Netherlands on Saturday in his first appearance for Denmark since his collapse. Joakim Mæhle and Jesper Lindstrøm were the other scorers for Denmark against Serbia in a match between teams who will be heading to the World Cup at the end of the year.
