  Ils ont brillé au moment le plus opportun. Karim Benzema et Raphaël Varane, les deux Français du Real Madrid, ont chacun livré une prestation de grande classe, hier, face à la Real Sociedad (5-1), et leurs éclairs sontsurvenus lejouroù les Merengue en avaient le plus besoin. Après deux nuls en quatre jours (1-1 faceà Malaga etVillarreal), les Madrilènes avaient besoin de se relancer. Surtout que le Barça, un peu plus tôt dans la journée, était provisoirement revenu à 3 points après sa victoire à Majorque (2-0). Avec la tranquillité et l'efficacité de Raphaël Varane, installé en défense centrale, et le talent de Karim Benzema, ce fut plus facile. L'exigeant public madrilène leur réserva d'ailleurs plusieurs ovations.
