Atletico returned to victory last week after five weeks, and Quique Sanchez Flores wants to take advantage of the momentum granted by this victory to inject his Colchoneros with Andalusian blood, leapfrog Sevilla and claim the 7th position as they wait for Real Sociedad and Espanyol to take on each other.
Sevilla, recently eliminated from the Europa League, needs the full scoring badly to shorten the gap from the last Champions League qualifying place, which stands 12 points above their head. Sevilla's Luis Fabiano and Antonio Negredo will measure their strengths against Sergio Aguero and Diego Forlan.

The Toffees received a welcome break from what is fast becoming a season to forget in the Premier League, with the club still not safe from the threat of relegation after what many thought would be another good season. Sunderland know that victory will put them at least briefly into sixth place, with Liverpool  not scheduled to play until the following day, and Steve Bruce will be eager to see his side take advantage and continue their push for Europe.

  After the 2-0 win at Birmingham and 0-0 draw at Blackburn Newcastle are looking for a third straight clean sheet for the first time in the Premier League since April 2008. Newcastle are still without Shola Ameobi , Alan Smith , Stephen Ireland and Hatem Ben Afra. Zat Knight and Jlloyd Samuel are still absent for Bolton but they can recall Daniel Sturridge, cup-tied for their last two games. When the teams met at Bolton, the home side won 5-1 and Newcastle had Fabricio Coloccini sent off.

Wolves are bottom, with three wins in their last 10, yet their victims were Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United. Blackpool have taken four points from their last two games following a run of five straight losses. On Tuesday they claimed their first win in seven when Brett Ormerod made a piece of club history by scoring. He can now boasts goals for Blackpool in all four top divisions. Sergei Kornilenko made his debut against Spurs and, following the 3-1 win, could take his place in an unchanged side.
